New Life Mission conducts many social interventions for the benefit of the most vulnerable individuals and families living in poverty. The children that the organization comes into contact with grow up in an environment where illness, crime, prostitution, alcohol, customs and violence are part of everyday life.
For many years of social work on the outskirts of Nairobi’s Kware slum area, the social program focused on helping people become self-sufficient and thus get out of poverty. People who live in the slums Kware live under Kshs 500 per day. The houses are built of sheet metal and clay and access to water is difficult. Many single women support their families through day work. We work on behalf of children to strengthen their rights and ensure that everyone’s equal conditions are respected. The work is designed through:
– Counseling & home visits
– Feeding program
– Financial assistance
– Education
– Health care                                                – Economic empowerment
In Mashuru Maasai 130 km from Nairobi, we work at grassroots level directly with the children, their families and local decision-makers.
Through a long collaboration with social workers, the child welfare board and other partners on site, we create long-term change for individuals as well as entire communities. We are in place and have a well-functioning network when there are natural disasters. At the same time, we also work long-term and preventively through educational programs in schools. By actively preventing negative cultural practices with the best interests of children as the focus. Poverty is spreading and the need for a social welfare office and concrete assistance has become greater.
